War: Chapter 3

Michaels sighed, then relented and let Matthias dial the phone.  Despite everything, he really hadn’t liked Laura going off with Magda.  It wasn’t that he didn’t trust them, it was just Laura was his crazy-ass hobo demon girl and well…  He didn’t trust them.  Matthias blinked.  “Laura, why are you answering Mom’s pho…”  Matthias listened for a moment, his eyes growing steadily wider.  “What the fuck do you mean she’s stoned?”  Matthias shook his head.  “Brownies with—”  He blinked.  “My father never stuck his dick in a musket.”

The beer nearly fell out of his hand as Michaels tried not to start laughing.  Matthias glared at him.  “Laura.  Laur—”  Matthias growled.  “I absolutely did not —”  He was starting to turn red and then raised his voice.  “The mission, Laura.  Shut about about —”  He listened for a minute.  “So he’s in.  Alri—”  He shook his head again.  “Breath a word of that and I will shave Michaels’ head.”

“Hey.”  Michaels narrowed his eyes.

“And tattoo a toilet bowl on his fore —”  Matthias made a groaning sound.  “Then I’ll wait until Gabriel is —”  He winced.  “Oh just…”  Matthias stabbed the end button on the call and tossed the phone on the table.  Then he raised his voice again.  “Erilon, make them —”

“Michaels, did you know when Matthias was little it was still traditional for young boys to wear dresses?”

“I did not.”  Michaels grinned.

Pink ones.

“Fucking demons.”  Matthias turned and strode out of the room.

“This is some good shit, Professor.”  Magda grinned at the remaining bite of brownie before eating it.  She made a soft purring sound as she chewed, then swallowed.  “Where did you get it?”

“I…”  Professor Kravitz tilted his head.  “You know, I can’t remember.”

She snickered.  “Really good shit.”  Laura had been right.  The professor was a nice man.  “We should be going.”

“Yes, of…”  He blinked.  “No.  You aren’t safe to drive.  Let me call you a cab, or you can crash on my couch or…”

Magda gave him a reassuring smile.  “Laura is still sober.”

“Ah, yes…”  Professor Kravitz nodded.  “She’s a good girl.”  He grinned.  “We really must converse again, without the brownies.  I would love to pick your brain in a conversation we would both remember.”

“Oh, absolutely…”  Magda started to stand, and wobbled a bit.  “Oh, that is good stuff.  Normally the buzz only lasts a couple minutes for me and never really…”  She laughed.  “When you remember the supplier, I want his number.”

“Oh, yes.”  Professor Kravitz also nearly fell when he stood up.  “Let me see you out…”  He fumbled his way toward the door.  “Tomorrow…”  He started to address Magda, then frowned and turned toward Laura.  “Tomorrow, call my office, remind me of this conversation, and we can meet with my assistant and get arrangements made.”

“Right, professor.”  Laura gave him a mock salute.

Professor Kravitz patted her head.  “Good girl.”

He sat on the balcony ledge, watching the city light up as darkness fell around it.  Some part of his mind saw the painting in it, and urged him to pick up the brush.  He smiled, and started to go do just that.

“Adam?”   He froze at the sound of her voice.  Wren stepped onto the balcony.  “It’s cold.”  She rubbed her arms.

“Yeah.”  He nodded.  “I, uh…”

She came toward him, smiling seductively before running her hand down his arm.  He put an arm around her waist and drew her to him before leaning down to nibble at her neck.  Some primal part of his brain wanted to sink teeth in, to rip and tear and…  He knew he couldn’t.  The talisman’s magic would come to bear if he tried.  So, he kissed her, and ran her hands over her back while she made a soft moaning sound and shoved him backward to climb into his lap.

His shirt was torn open, then he felt it torn from him.  Her fingernails raked his skin as she writhed in his lap.  His eyes closed, and he let part of his mind wander.  Then it was Laura he was kissing, Laura tearing his clothes off and…  He bent his head to her breast and made a soft growling sound as he met her passionate embrace.

Ted groaned.  The fingers of his left hand were tangled in Gabriel’s hair as his lover’s mouth worked over his shaft.  Gabriel’s arms were secured behind his back in a leather arm sheath that bound him from wrists to elbows.  Additional heavy-duty leather cuffs secured Gabriel’s ankles.  He’d considered a blindfold, but while Gabriel would allow it if Ted wanted the other man didn’t enjoy having his senses dulled.

He fondled Gabriel’s cock, and felt his lover moan.  He yanked Gabriel’s hair, and Gabriel obediently took him in deeper, until his lips were touching Ted’s balls.  A smile came to his face when Gabriel’s tongue darted out to caress them.  He flicked the clamp on the end of Gabriel’s cock, and luxuriated in Gabriel’s muffled response.  Ted came in Gabriel’s mouth, then tightened his grip on Gabriel’s hair.  “Swallow it.”  He didn’t release Gabriel until the order was obeyed.

They lay next to each other, Gabriel still secured by the leather restraints.  Even though he knew the other man wasn’t truly helpless, Ted still enjoyed the illusion that the man was completely at his mercy.  He pulled Gabriel just a little closer, then kissed the top of his lover’s head before reaching down to play with the bell he’d clamped to Gabriel’s left nipple.  Gabriel grunted in response.  “What’s the matter, tough guy?”  Ted grinned.  “You don’t like music?”  He gave the bell just a slight twist.

Gabriel let out a small hiss, his back arching a little.  “Untie me.  Now.”

“No.”  Ted played with the bell a little longer, then ran a finger down the side of Gabriel’s face.  “And if you don’t learn to be polite, I’m going to have to spank you.”

“Get your hands off me.”  Gabriel glared, but his eyes danced just a little.

“You asked for it, tough guy.”  Ted sat up and dragged Gabriel across his lap.  He grinned as his hand came down on Gabriel’s perfect ass.

Ash opened his eyes, blinking in the darkness.  He started to put his hand onto the person sleeping next to him before catching himself.  His head was resting on a shoulder, but he saw a smooth expanse of dark skin rather than Magda’s curves.  Magda had gone with Laura to talk to a professor.

He’d tried sleeping alone.  That had lasted almost half an hour before he’d crawled to Stephan’s bed and climbed inside.  And that had lasted for about fifteen minutes before Stephan had noted that the bed was far too small for two people.  Ash had started whimpering, and Stephan had solved the problem by joining him in the bed he normally shared with Magda.

Now he had a different problem.  He was cuddled up next to the body of someone he loved and…  Magda liked being kissed and caressed into waking, and she’d pull him closer.  Ash frowned to himself.  Had he been at all attracted to men before…  He stopped himself before he started thinking about them, and let out a sigh.

“You’re poking me.”  Stephan didn’t open his eyes.

A small laugh escaped him.  “Sorry.”  He gave an embarrassed shrug before moving away. “Forgot who I was sleeping with for a minute.”

“Don’t worry about it.”  Stephan rubbed his head, then sat up.  “What time is it?”

“About five AM.”

“Right.  Put on headphones and ignore the camper shaking time.”  Stephan chuckled.

“I…”  Ash gave a small shake of his head.  “I didn’t realize we…”  He swallowed.  “Do we bother you?”

“Nah.”  Stephan smiled, then tilted his head.  “Except when you do the thing that makes Magda go really high pitched.  That uh…”

“She definitely likes that.”  Ash grinned.

“She’s going to shatter the windows one day, and it’s going to be your fault.”  He started looking for his pants.  “Surprised Matthias hasn’t said something.”

“He did.”  Ash tossed the pants to Stephan.  “Magda just pointed out her senses are more acute then his and then gave him a look until he turned redder than Daniel’s hair and started apologizing.”  He hesitated, then sighed again.  “I am sorry, Stephan.”

“Ash, I’m male.  I’m well aware it’s not always something you have a lot of control over.”  Stephan pulled the pants on.  “So, I’ll just chose to be flattered and go on with life.”

“Thank you.”  He smiled.

“Now go take a cold shower or something.”  Stephan winked at him.  “I’ll start breakfast.”

Laura was waiting with coffee when Magda stumbled out of the bathroom.  She tried not to smile at the confused look Magda gave her.  “Laura…”  Magda took the coffee.  “Why was I asleep in the bathtub?”

“That’s what I was going to ask you.”  Laura shrugged.  “I suggested the bed, but you said you were good right there.”

“Wow.”  Magda looked at the coffee cup in her hand, then drained it before refilling it.  “I have got to get the name of the Professor’s supplier.”

“So, you remember last night?”  Laura tried not to snicker.

“Parts of…”  She looked down at the fresh cup of coffee, then drained it as well.  “How much will your silence cost me?”

“I need a car.”

She blinked.  “Seriously?”

Magda shrugged.  “I mean, if you clear it with Gabriel and Michaels and Ted.”

“Ugh.”  Laura fell back onto the couch.  “They all say I have to earn half the money for the car myself and I have to do so via honest labor.”  She looked up.  “And they were very adamant there is nothing honest about blackmail.”  She frowned.  “Though they were mostly directing that toward Erilon.”

“Alright.”  Magda drained a third cup of coffee.  “I’m going to go get dressed, and then we will go talk to the professor again.”

“Oh god.”  Professor Kravitz looked up as they entered his office.  “It wasn’t a dream.”

“Nope.”  Laura grinned at him.  “You really did get a werewolf high.”

“Laura…”  Magda rolled her eyes, then smiled at the professor.  “Do you recall us offering to fund the expedition.”

“Yes.”  He took a deep breath, then set his hands on his desk.  He was silent for a moment, then looked up at them.  “And now that I am sober, I have to ask why.”

“We need a cover to get some people to France and smugg —”

“No.”  She blinked as the professor cut her off firmly.

“No?”  That was a major turnaround from the previous night.

“That sounds like the kind of thing that may endanger my students.”  He raised his head.  “And that I will absolutely not allow.”

“We will protect your students.”  Magda folded her arms.

“My dear lady…”  Professor Kravitz pointed at Laura.  “Last time she dropped by, I had vampires, werewolves, demons, a shape-shifting hit man, and someone I was told can juggle cars.”

“Gabriel.”  Magda nodded.  “He will be coming along on this trip, and you should know he is actually a police officer.”

“He…”  Professor Kravitz tilted his head.  “I’m not sure if I am frightened or reassured by that.”  He shook his head, then pointed a pen at her.  “The point is, I am not certain how you can go about protecting my students from that manner of threat.”

She turned around, closed the door, flipped the lock, and then took her were form.  He dropped his pen.  “My son, also a wolf, will be joining us, along with Gabriel and his companions.  I assure you, professor…”  She resumed human form.  “We are quite capable.”

“I can’t…”  He shook his head.

“Professor.”  Laura’s voice was small.  “We are trying to save Adam.”

“You…”  He went silent for a moment, then bowed his head.  After another moment, he nodded.  “Alright.”  He exhaled.  “Alright.”  He picked the pen back up.  “I…”  He looked at the pen, then set it back down.  “You will keep my students out of harm’s way.  If any of them are harmed by your actions…”  He squared his shoulders.  “I will find a way to see they get justice.  Are we clear?”

“Professor…”  Magda smiled.  “I think you and I are going to be friends.”

“Yes, well…”  He sighed.  “Alright.  We’ll need to talk to my assistant, and she left her cell phone here so…”  He frowned.  “I can email her.”

“Is she local?”  Magda raised an eyebrow.  “We can stop by.  Is she someone we need to bring into the loop?”

“I’d prefer not.  I don’t want…”  He shook his head.  “It pains me as a teacher to say this, but the less she knows of the supernatural the safer she likely is.”

“Okay.  Well, let’s stop by and —”

“No.”  He shook his head, going slightly pale.

“Professor?”  She raised an eyebrow.

“Last time I stopped by her…”  He took a deep breath.  “I accidentally walked into the middle of an orgy.  I will email her.”
